DreamWorks News: New Comedy for D'Works and Stiller
Jan 24, 2006 - 01:29 AM
"The Dodgeball team is coming back together, but this time they'll be competing in a different kind of comedy. Daily Variety reports DreamWorks Pictures has picked up a comedy pitch from Ben Stiller, writer-director Rawson Marshall Thurber and producer Stuart Cornfeld.

Thurber hatched the idea for the comedy, which brought in a $1 million bid from DreamWorks. Thurber will now get busy writing the script, and he will direct once production is ready to begin. Stiller and Cornfeld will serve as the producers through their DreamWorks-based Red Hour Films.

The studio is now keeping both the title and the details of the script close to the vest. At DreamWorks, John Fox and Jeremy Kramer will be shepherding the project.

Currently, DreamWorks and Red Hour are collaborating on the ice skating comedy Blades of Glory, starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder. Stiller and Cornfeld are the producers on that project, which is directed by Josh Gordon and Will Speck.
