"The Director?s Guild of America has honored Steven Spielberg with an Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Films Award nomination for his direction of 'Munich'. This marks a tenth time Spielberg has been nominated for this award. DGAs are always a good predictor of which movies are going to be nominated for the Academy Awards and this nomination puts 'Munich' back at the Oscar race.
Spielberg was previously nominated for ?Amistad,? ?Empire of the Sun,? ?E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial,? ?Raiders of the Lost Ark,? ?Close Encounters of the Third Kind? and ?Jaws,? and previously won the DGA Award for ?Saving Private Ryan,? ?Schindler?s List? and ?The Color Purple.?
This year?s winner will be announced at the 58th Annual DGA Awards Dinner on January 28 at the Hyatt Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles.
In other awards news, 'Munich' has swept the Kansas City Film Critics Awards with three wins for the Best Movie, Best Director and Best Adapted Screenplay. Last year, Kansas City critics matched Oscar in ALL categories except director and supporting actor, and the runner up won."
