Hollywood Reporter is the first trade paper to review upcoming Memoirs of a Geisha and the verdict is mediocre.
The reason is not so about the controversial cast but more so about the Japanese story now Americanized. ""Here is a film about Japan made by Americans, shot mostly in the U.S. and, of course, in English. Once you accept these compromises in the name of international filmmaking, none is a real deterrent to enjoying this lush period film,"" says Kirk Honeycutt.
