DreamWorks News: Activision Reportedly Grabs 'Transformers' Rights
Jan 18, 2006 - 05:10 PM
"According to trade magazine MCV, Hasbro have handed Activision the Transformers license for a tie-in to accompany the upcoming Dreamworks movie.

The movie itself is a live action affair being directed by Michael 'Armageddon' Bay, with Steven Spielberg acting as executive producer. There seems to be confusion as to when it's due out though - April 2006, November 2006 or a yet to be confirmed date in 2007, depending on who you believe.

Activision have worked on numerous Dreamworks tie-ins before, such as Shrek 2, Shark Tale and Madagascar, but we're hoping that this'll be: a) better than these, and b) aimed more at the teen market. If they use Atari's 2004 Transformers game as a blue-print it should turn out just fine.
